Gibson Les Paul Custom

Ebony

1977

This is a fabulous playing and sounding 1977 Gibson Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty”. The original gloss nitro finish is in excellent condition with virtually no wear on the neck or body. There are no breaks, cracks, or touch ups. It retains the original patent number T-Top pickups. The CTS pots all date to the 47th week of 1976. The body is solid mahogany. It has a 3 piece maple neck, ebony fretboard, and original frets with minimal indentations in the cowboy chord area (see pic). The original tuners function smoothly and hold tune very well. The original case is included.

In terms of condition, the gold hardware shows some wear on the pickup covers and tailpiece. The original pickup covers were reinstalled professionally and the wiring has been put back to stock to remove two ground wires that were added at some point. One neck pickup height screw hole was stripped so a small piece was welded on to the foot and a new hole drilled (see pic). The bridge has been replaced with a later Gibson Nashville Tune-O-Matic. The bridge pickup ring has a crack but is solidly in place.

This is an absolute rock and roll machine that is a dream to play.
