Fender Swinger

Daphne Blue

1969

The Fender Swinger, also known as the Musiclander and Arrow, were born out of the need to save costs and recycle surplus parts. In 1969, Virgilio "Babe" Simoni was given the task of using large stocks of parts from some of their less successful products. Fender had piles of short scale (22.5") necks intended for a student range of guitars. For the body, a Musicmaster was run through the band saw to slice a curve from the bottom and another from the left horn. Leftover Bass V bodies were used as well. Regular Musicmaster parts were used for the rest of the guitar. Only about 300-500 of these were produced. Colors included Daphne Blue, Dakota Red, Black, Lake Placid Blue, and Candy Apple Red with white pearloid pickguards and Olympic White with faux tortoiseshell guard. They were never in a catalog and were most likely handed to Fender reps to sell.

This specific guitar is all original, including the case. There are a few dings as shown in the pictures. Otherwise, it plays and sounds great.
