Danelectro Convertible
Natural
1964
The Danelectro Convertible acoustic/electric guitar was cutting edge for its time. It came standard as an acoustic or with an optional lipstick pickup. The pickup kit could also be added later. This guitar is all original including the factory installed lipstick tube pickup.
This model features Danelectro's standard "shorthorn" body shape, top and back of Masonite, and sides made of poplar covered in Tolex. The body is hollow. The bridge and fretboard are Brazilian rosewood with the bridge saddle made of fret wire. The tailpiece and nut are aluminum. This guitar has a bolt-on neck with 21 frets and a 25″ scale. The nut width is 1.65 inches. The neck plays like an electric.
Sound wise, the acoustic is loud with lots of sustain, but not as full range as a traditional acoustic. Plugged in it has all the clarity and chime that a Dano should, thanks to the lipstick pickup.
The condition is very good with some pitting on the tailpiece, scuffs on the sides, and nicks on the headstock. The original crocodile chipboard case is in great shape as well.
