Danelectro Shorthorn 3412
Copper
1961
This 1961 Danelectro Shorthorn Bass (Model 3412) is all original, including the chipboard case. The bass shows very little play wear with only a few blemishes on the body as well as some oxidation on the back of the neck as shown in the pictures. The neck stamp dates to 1961 and the pots date to 1960.
It features a double cutaway Masonite body with vinyl sides, one lipstick pickup, "seal" shaped pickguard, Coke bottle headstock, and aluminum nut. It is equipped with 15 frets but since the strings extend to the bottom of the body, the scale is actually closer to full sized. Controls include one volume, one tone, and a 3 way tone switch. The lipstick pickup provides a wide range of tones from warm and round to mid-range growl.
