Marshall Super PA Model 1968

1970

Serviced and ready to rock, this Marshall Super PA Model 1968 from 1970 is equipped with four equal channels, each featuring independent volume controls and high/low sensitivity inputs per channel.  It puts out 100 watts through EL34 power tubes (4) and 12AX7 preamp tubes (4). The sound is somewhat cleaner with tighter bass (less sag) than a Super Lead or Super Bass but no less musical. The tone is full, articulate, and clear with an excellent midrange punch that only a 100 watt tube amp can give.  Breakup starts around 4 when using one of the high inputs. It sounds great a lower volumes and would work well as a pedal platform.

The circuit differences between the Super PA, Super Lead, and Super Bass are minimal. Therefore, a common modification is to turn one channel into a Super Lead and the other into a Super Bass, essentially giving you two amps in one. Also, you can use an AB box to run different sets of pedals through each input or jumper all 4 channels for loads of gain! This is a very versatile amp.

All service was done using high quality and vintage appropriate parts including a grounded power cord, 6 filter capacitor cans, 8 input jacks, 5 rectifier diodes, and 4 grid stopper resistors (2 added so that each EL34 has its own). Replaced parts will be included. The transformers, Tolex, other electronics, and handle are original. The black plastic Standby switch tip is missing.
