Fender Pro 5E5-B

1956

Fender Tweed Pro 5E5-B from 1956. Recently tuned up to replace a few capacitors, resistors, and the on/off toggle. The speaker has been replaced with a proper Jensen P15N from 1961. Otherwise, most of the key components are original. Includes the original cover!

Overall, the amp sounds wonderful. With single coil pickups, it stays relatively clean until around 4 or 5 on the volume. At 6, the amp starts breaking up, and coupled with the 15 inch speaker, the tone is very full yet clear and articulate. Of course, humbuckers pushe the amp into distortion earier.

The 5E5-B circuit produces around 35 to 40 watts through a 15 inch speaker. The tubes include a 5U4GA rectifier, 6L6G (2) power tubes, 12AX7 (2) and 12AY7 preamp tubes. Note, the power cord is a two prong, ungrounded plug.
