Fender Pro 5D5

1954

This 1954 Wide Panel Tweed Pro is in excellent working order. The only replaced component is the Jensen P15P which dates to 1958. Everything else is original including all electronics (including electroytics), transformers, pots, tweed covering, grill cloth, handle, and 2 prong power cord.

All inputs and controls work as they should. It is very quiet and sounds great. The handle is in poor condition and should not be used as is. Some of the tweed on the bottom is peeling off as seen in the pic but should be able to be glued back on. The rectifier and preamp tubes are vintage. The power tubes are Sovtek.

This 5D5 circuit puts out 18 watts from a pair of 6L6 power tubes, a 5U4 rectifier, a 12AX7, and two 12AY7 tubes. It is cathode biased with a negative feedback loop and a paraphase phase inverter. The 15 inch speaker provides solid bass while still offering a great midrange punch and note clarity. The 5D5 circuit breaks up earlier than the subsequent 5E5.

With any vintage tube amp, it is highly advisable to get it serviced for safety and reliability as the electrical component values have likely drifted outside of specification over time. Therefore, the amp may not perform as it should and the chance of damage to critical components is increased.
